PRP (platelet rich plasma) treatment

In the process of ageing, the skin loses it’s elasticity, glow and volume. The search for most adequate natural skin stimulation has resulted with injecting the patient’s own blood into the skin with a mesotherapy technique. Such method is called PRP – platelet rich plasma treatment.

What is a PRP plasma treatment?

For more than 30 years, thrombocyte rich blood plasma is used, with success and recommendations, in the processes of sped up tissue regeneration, especially in orthopedics and cardiology. Since 2005, PRP plasma treatment is used in esthetical dermatology thanks to multiple growth factors which the produced serum contains. It’s own concentrated growth factors stimulate the volume regeneration of the thinned skin, collagen remodeling and creation of new blood vessels in the skin.

How is a PRP treatment performed?

The procedure itself is performed in a way that when the patient arrives his own blood is taken and placed in a special device where with the help of the centrifugal force the red blood cells are completely separated from the serum. Specially dedicated kits for this procedure which are added contain the gel with an active substance which activates the thrombocytes to release the growth factors and doesn’t allow erythrocytes to be found in the serum. After that, the drops of the produced serum are applied to skin on the treated surface with the mesotherapy technique. Applied thrombocytes release the growth factors during the 7 to 10 day after the treatment. The first PRP treatment results can be expected a month after the procedure.

How many treatments are recommended?

Three PRP treatments are recommended a year with the minimum time period of 4 to 6 weeks between them . The number of treatments is not limited due to the use of the patient’s own serum. It takes 2 to 4 months to see the full result of the procedure.

What are the sideeffects of the PRP treatment?

During the procedure bruises with a radius of about 3mm can appear, but with the exception of that there is no possibility of an allergic reaction to occur because parts of the patients own blood are used.

PRP treatment gives best results in improving the hair volume, mitigating the scars and reducing the pigmentation around the eyes. It is a method of choice for treating the skin around the face, neck, decolletage and hands. Also, it combines well with volumisation of the face with hyaluronic fillers.
